World of Warcraft Preorder That Broke All Previous Records

February 23rd, 2009

Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

Form the very first release of the very first Warcraft game in November of 2004, Warcraft has broken records left, right and center. And most of all it has won the gaming hearts of millions of dedicated gamers around the world. This is why World of Warcraft preorder sales went sky high when its release was announced.

Fans of the previous versions of Warcraft were convinced that this new game could not but fail to come through for them. This was in November 23rd of 2004, and the fans were proven right. The millions of people who got a World of Warcraft preorder version were rewarded for their loyalty and dedication to the game. World of Warcraft lived up to their expectations in every way.

Following on the heels of this brilliant victory, another marketing masterpiece was launched. This time it was World of Warcraft: the Board Game. This particular World of Warcraft preorder promotional strategy was coordinated together with the online retailers of the World of Warcraft board game, Fantasy Flight Games.

This World of Warcraft preorder promotion featured more than just the board game as well. For the dedicated fans who were willing to go the distance and place a World of Warcraft preorder, they were able to order one of sixteen different bronze World of Warcraft heroes.

These were Rare Edition figures of which there were only 300 sets made. Needless to say this was also a huge success. This World of Warcraft preorder promotion was held in late October of 2005 until the end of November of 2005.

Following on the heels of this latest success Blizzard then proceeded to announce its next World of Warcraft preorder promotion. This went very far in the way of generating much interest in all echelons of the game playing world. Blizzard was releasing an expansion pack for World of Warcraft, and it was called World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade.

As far as promotions went this last World of Warcraft preorder promotion was to prove to be the most spectacular of all. Interest in this game was rife, and a personal milestone of over 8 million players worldwide was reached in January of 2007, days before the expansion pack was released.

There was no doubt in anyone’s minds at this point that the Burning Crusade expansion pack was going to be a personal triumph for World of Warcraft and Blizzard. World of Warcraft preorder promotions showed that enthusiasm for the Burning Crusade expansion pack was more than promising.

This was proved beyond a shadow of a doubt at midnight on January 16, 2007 when it was released in the United States, Europe and Canada.

This worldwide release confirmed, and went beyond, what the World of Warcraft preorder promotions had predicted. The World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade expansion pack sold over a total of 2.4 million copies worldwide in the first 24 hour period, breaking any and all previous records for such games.

What Happens if you Lose your World of Warcraft CD Keys?

February 22nd, 2009
warcraft
Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

If you have bought any of the World of Warcraft games you will find that the activation key for the game is to be found on the CD itself. These are generally known to all and sundry as World of Warcraft CD keys.

These World of Warcraft CD keys along with the CD’s are the ones that people are trying to circumvent by using Warcraft cracks. This will enable them to be mobile with their Warcraft games without having to take along their World of Warcraft CD keys or CD’s.

This is however, not a recommended practice as Blizzard, the creators of all things Warcraft, do not smile upon this. What happens if you lose your World of Warcraft CD keys? There have been many people who have asked this question in the many different Warcraft forums, and the answer is always simple.

If you have your original Warcraft game CD then you should be able to find the World of Warcraft CD keys on the CD itself, as you might remember if you cast yourself back to those pre-Warcraft days when you first bought and installed your game. If you’ve lost your original game CD then you’ve also unfortunately lost your World of Warcraft CD keys as well.

World of Warcraft CD keys can also be used for guest users. These users won’t have a regular World of Warcraft account but will instead play using a guest account. This means that they will need to enter active World of Warcraft CD keys every time they want to log in to play.

These World of Warcraft CD keys will each cost a certain amount and give you a set time of playing hours. Once you have exhausted these hours you will then need to buy World of Warcraft CD keys again to activate your guest account.

Normally when you purchase World of Warcraft CD keys you will be able to play for about 30 days. This is sometimes referred to as “free” playing time. This is of course different from the World of Warcraft demo version which you can download and play for 10 days free of charge.

With World of Warcraft CD keys after your time has run out, you will then need to purchase what is referred to as a time card, or a gametime card. These are prepaid cards which allow you to play World of Warcraft for a limited number of days. This is not the same as obtaining World of Warcraft CD keys, and you will need to have an active World of Warcraft account to do this.

The Lure That Collectible Warcraft Figures Will Have on the Warcraft Fanatic

February 2nd, 2009

Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

It’s official – Warcraft in all of its forms is one of the best games to have ever been brought into existence. This is amply supported by the large number of players who grace the world of Azeroth not to mention the large number of the games which have sold over the years. And when you add to this beautiful melee such a thing as collectible Warcraft figures you have pure genius on your hands.

This is admittedly one of their better moves, as fans of Warcraft, past and present will all rush to grab their very own Warcraft figures. To someone who has not played Warcraft before it might be bewildering to see so many grown men and women immersed in a fantasy where they have to go around looting, plundering and fighting.

It is unfortunately not something that can be adequately explained until you play the game and get Warcraft in your blood. When you do, you will surely understand the lure that collectible Warcraft figures will have on the Warcraft fanatic.

This even applies to Warcraft members who have hung up their fighting swords, put away their potions and spells, and have instead returned to the mundane world of Earth. Owning delightful memorabilia only enhances the entire Warcraft experience for everyone concerned.

To begin with though, these collectible Warcraft figures were introduced to the playing public through Fantasy Flight Games, with World of Warcraft: the Board Game. They offered to their fans who pre-ordered the board game, a chance to get 1 of 16 Rare Edition Bronze figures of their favorite Warcraft figures.

Since there was such a tremendous demand for these figures, Fantasy Flight Games then got together with Blizzard (the creators of Warcraft) to bring to the world a Limited Edition set of these same 16 Warcraft figures previously released as Rare Editions.

There was however, to be a difference in these Limited Edition Warcraft figures in that, as opposed to the black felt which lined the base of the Rare Edition Warcraft figures, there would be a green felt lining instead.

And on the rim of the circular disk on which each of the figures are standing, the Limited Edition Warcraft figures will sport a “ULTD” mark where the Rare Edition Warcraft figures have no markings whatsoever.

And the beauty of this lies in the fact that, while only 300 sets of the Rare Edition Warcraft figures were cast, the Limited Edition sets will be cast an unlimited number of times. And if that seems confusing, read on.

This unlimited Limited Edition casting of the sets of Warcraft figures will only happen for the time frame of one year in which they will be made available to the public. Also, these Limited Edition Warcraft figures can only be bought through the Fantasy Flight Games online store until March 31st 2007. And therein lies it’s limited availability.

Why Would Someone Take World of Warcraft Screenshots?

January 28th, 2009
warcraft
Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

The most obvious reason of course is because that person is simply nuts about everything Warcraft and simply can’t help themselves. More obviously still World of Warcraft might be the single most important thing in that person’s life, leading the way to obtain World of Warcraft screenshots.

And yes, there are people who do this, which is why the internet is even now populated with website after website displaying World of Warcraft screenshots galleries.

More importantly, you will also find that people search for World of Warcraft screenshots so that they can use these admittedly great screenshots as their computer desktop backgrounds, screensavers and even slide shows. Most people who go searching for World of Warcraft screenshots will also be dedicated to the point where they will trawl for hours on end looking for the perfect World of Warcraft screenshots.

World of Warcraft screenshots also come in handy for people who don’t play the game but who are fond of fantasy genre pictures and who can see the sheer genius that went into creating the World of Warcraft. For these people as well, World of Warcraft screenshots will come in handy to pepper their computer desktop with.

Other reasons why people would take World of Warcraft screenshots would be to record any of their World of Warcraft creations, any of their World of Warcraft triumphs and special occasions.

You can think of these World of Warcraft screenshots as something along the lines of World of Warcraft photograph albums, as most of the screenshots will contain notes as to the dates and times when they were taken. Almost exactly like a real photograph album in fact.

Some people will also take World of Warcraft screenshots in order to entice their friends to play World of Warcraft with them. The great looking graphics will entice even the most hardened of skeptics as will the scope of the game which will be visible through the World of Warcraft screenshots.

It is a simple matter to find World of Warcraft screenshots on the internet, and if you do not have a favorite World of Warcraft site that you would normally go to, all you need to do is to do a search for World of Warcraft screenshots.

This will normally yield up page after page of World of Warcraft screenshots which you can then trawl through until you find exactly what you’re looking for. And if you have a good photo quality printer you can also print these screenshots (in the correct size and format of course) so that you can pepper your home with them as well!

What is World of Warcraft Though (besides Being a Game)?

January 28th, 2009

Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

It was a sunny day. I remember that clearly because it was the last sunny day that I would take notice of for a long while. My world was about to tilt on its axis and I was about to take a leap into the unknown. In short I was about to enter, the World of Warcraft. For those of you who are wondering what on earth I’m talking about, I’m assuming that you picked up the wrong article since the title clearly states this is about the World of Warcraft.

If you read the title but thought it was about corporate takeover strategies, I **** disillusion you, but it’s not. It’s all about what is known as an MMORPG. That was the short version. What this stands for is Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. A mouthful of words as you can see which is why it’s been shortened to MMORPG.

And this particular MMORPG that I’m talking about is called World of Warcraft, hence the title of the article, nothing to do with corporate takeover strategies as you can see. World of Warcraft, or WoW as it too is abbreviated, is but one of the many such MMORPG’s making its presence known in the world.

If you look it up on the internet you’ll find that each of these MMORPG’s has x number of people playing at any given time, night or day the world over, that there are x number of servers dedicated to facilitating this game playing, and that are x number of worlds and characters available for play. That was probably nothing short of confusing to most people, but don’t let that worry you. As you read on, most, if not all of it should become crystal clear.

What is World of Warcraft though (besides being a game)? That question is actually slightly difficult to explain if you haven’t played any type of Role Playing Games before. Also to do that question full justice it would take more time and pages than I can spare, in other words if I were to go into all the details about what WoW really is, I would need a separate article entirely.

However, not to worry, I know exactly what it is like to be stranded in the World of Warcraft with no clue as to what is happening around me. It took the combined efforts of my little brother and days of researching – when I could tear myself away from the game inspite of the fact that I was still virtually clueless – to get my head around the whole thing that was known as the universe of Warcraft and along with it the World of Warcraft.

(I should perhaps mention that there is no game called the universe of Warcraft – not yet anyway. What I was trying to do there was to encapsulate everything that is World of Warcraft into one single line.) Anyway, as I was saying, it took me a few days to come to grips with WoW, but it took me endless hours of game playing time to understand most of the ins and outs of it.

I wouldn’t call myself an expert at World of Warcraft, I gave up the game so I’m not entitled to that name, but I do know a fair bit about it, and can still make my way through the various lands in one piece.

The Blood Furnace in World of Warcraft

January 14th, 2009
warcraft
Aaron Patterson asked:

The blood furnace is the second instance that is in hellfire citadel. This instance has three bosses. Here is what to expect from each of the bosses.

The Maker

The first boss is The Maker. He is a basic tank and DPS fight.

Have the tank aggro him facing away from the group to protect them from The Maker’s Acid Spray.

The Maker will cast Domination; a mind control ability that he uses on a random person in the raid and cannot be dispelled. It increases the damage done by the target by 100%. If your tank is mind controlled, fear him, and try to off tank The Maker with a rouge, shaman, hunter, DPS warrior, or paladin to keep him off the healer.

The Maker will also throw a beaker at a target doing 1000-1200 nature damage, throwing the target in the air.

Broggok

The second boss is Broggok. This can be a very tricky fight.

The fight starts by pulling a lever in the center of the room. Once the lever is pulled, waves of orcs come out of jail cells. The first will have three orcs and the last two waves will have four each.

Since you get no reprieve from them, the party will have to kill as they can by focusing all of the DPS on one target until it is dead. Once all four waves are dead, Broggok comes through a gate. Have the tank run as far from the healer as possible to grab aggro so the healer can regain as much manna as possible.

Have the tank pull him Broggok away from the group, facing away to avoid his AoE poison cloud. The tanks should move to avoid the cloud, as well.

Broggok’s Poison Bolt does damage over time so it can and should be dispelled.

After his death, there will be a poison cloud that can still kill party members, so wait for it to disperse before looting.

Keli’dan the Breaker

The last boss is Keli’dan the Breaker. This fight starts with five warlocks who you have to kill to activate the boss.

Once they are all dead, Keli’dan the Breaker comes alive. Have the tank grab aggro and tank him away from the group.

Keli’dan will try to use Shadow Bolt Volley. This is shot at every one in the party. He cannot hit people behind him, though, so make sure everyone but the tank is behind him.

He will also shout, “Come closer and burn!” This is the party’s cue to run away as fast as possible because he will explode in a Fire Nova that does a lot of damage.

If the party avoids these two abilities, it will be an easy fight. To learn more about strategies for World of Warcraft, try reading the Team Idemise Guide.

Fight Strategy for Terestian Illhoof in the Karazhan Instance in World of Warcraft

January 12th, 2009
warcraft
Aaron Patterson asked:

Terestian Illhoof is a demon boss in the Karazhan instance. The Terestian Illhoof boss is a fight that requires coordination above all else. Here is how to beat this boss using a proven strategy.

Prep Work

Before the fight starts, have everyone in the raid make a macro that uses /target demon chains. This will come in handy during the fight and can make or break it.

The Fight

At the start of the fight, the main tank will aggro Terestian Illhoof and the off tank will aggro Kil’rek, his imp. Have your warlock use Seed of Corruption the imp adds that will spawn. The imp adds have a Firebolt that does 150 damage and 650 damage if target has Amplify Magic.

Have all of the DPS kill Kil’rek first, then focus on Terestian Illhoof. The imp has a spell that amplifies flames. This is un-dispellable and is placed on the highest threat person in the raid, increasing fire damage. Broken Pact is his other of his spells. When the imp dies it increases damage done to Terestian Illhoof by 25%.

Terestian Illhoof will use a spell called heal. This will summon a character to the center of the room and bind them in chains called Demon Chains. They are hard to target so the macro will help if used during this time. The chains must be destroyed immediately because they drain the life from the player while healing Terestian Illhoof for a high amount.

Once the chain are broken, DPS players can go back to killing Terestian Illhoof. The imp, Kil’rek, will respawn and must be killed again. He must be killed with in 10 minutes or he will go Berserk and spam Shadow Bolts on the raid and wipe it.

If the imp is killed right away, then the raid should have no problem killing Terestian Illhoof. To learn more about strategies for World of Warcraft, try reading the Team Idemise Guide.

How Addictive is Warcraft?

January 6th, 2009
warcraft
Hunter Cromwell asked:

World of Warcraft has many strengths as a game, and one of its most famous qualities is how addictive it is. It is one of the most enthralling games around - there’s an element to it that just grips you and makes it difficult to stop playing. As a result, the game is a truly fascinating experience, and many people have become hooked on the fantasy world of Azeroth.

People tend to play World of Warcraft for long periods of time. The game has an internal clock and through that you can calculate how long you have been playing it for, in hours and days. A typical player of online games might spend around 24 hours per week online. World of Warcraft is so compelling that some people play 24 hours in one session. Players become so mesmerised with the game that they just keep going, and can spend an entire day inside its world.

World of Warcraft is an online multiplayer game, a genre that tends to be very addictive by nature. One of the reasons why this particular game is so addictive is because it’s popular. Sometimes multiplayer games peter out because not enough people are playing them, and they need many people in their world to be interesting.

World of Warcraft however has been continually popular since its launch. This has ensured that it is as busy as is needed and is full of opportunities for interaction.

World of Warcraft is essentially endless. Even though the game has a final level, the experience doesn’t end once you’ve reached it and completed it. There are other challenges to do. The game’s developers, Blizzard, are constantly updating the game and adding new material and content. This ensures that its world is forever changing and expanding. The constant stream of new players also keeps the game community varied, as there are always new characters to meet.

The key point about World of Warcraft is that it is not simply a game; it is an alternative world. It is a recreation of life, and it has built its reality in as much depth and detail as possible. World of Warcraft functions as an alternative to the real world and is one of the most involving games yet designed. Players use it to get away from reality and stress and to do something very different for a while. It is a hugely entertaining title of course, with much to offer to gamers.

The world of the game still exists and grows even when you are not playing it. One of the game’s features actively encourages players to take a break every now and again. World of Warcraft features an element called the rested state, a reward system for more casual players. When players have their characters stay in an inn or a city, in other words when they aren’t playing the game, they earn certain bonuses and advantages. This can help with their progress when they do return to it.

World of Warcraft also includes internal controls that can limit how long a person plays it. The game features special parental controls that allow adults to determine how much their children may use it. They can set up a play schedule and restrict their children’s access solely to evenings or the weekend. It is also possible to set it to force a player to take a break every hour or so. This ensures that people use the game sensibly and within reason.

Overall, World of Warcraft is a terrific game and it is easy to become engrossed in it. The fact that it is so engaging just illustrates what a superlative game it is. It is very absorbing and diverting and is fine entertainment all round.

Purchasing a World of Warcraft Cd-key

January 5th, 2009
warcraft
Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

The difference in the two types of downloads is that with the World of Warcraft downloadable version you have only ten days of free game play. With the World of Warcraft CD-key you get 30 days of free game play. What you are in essence purchasing is the World of Warcraft CD-key.

By doing this you are buying yourself extended time on a World of Warcraft server and you can take your time in deciding whether or not you want to go ahead and buy the game and create a proper account.

Account activation with the World of Warcraft CD-key in most cases is very fast and depending on the site which is selling these CD-keys, you will either receive them through the email, or in the post.

And normally after your World of Warcraft CD-key purchased time has ended you will then need to purchase an additional game time World of Warcraft CD-key. This will normally give you a set number of hours to log on and play the World of Warcraft game. To do this however, you will require a legitimate World of Warcraft account.

There are many reasons why a person would go to the lengths of purchasing a World of Warcraft CD-key but these are mostly centered around the fact that they’re still not sold on the idea of Warcraft as a great MMORPG.

For those of us who have played other Warcraft games, World of Warcraft is but another step up the ladder of Warcraft game playing, which The Burning Crusade expansion pack takes even further.

Use of a World of Warcraft CD-key and game time cards are also good for people who love to play World of Warcraft but who don’t have the time to devote to playing the game almost 24/7. For these people a proper account could become a burden, whereas a World of Warcraft CD-key activated guest account would be more helpful.

One large drawback with a World of Warcraft CD-key is the fact that you need to have the activation key with you at all times when you want to play. You would do very good not to loose it or put in a “safe” place as you will find that you need to buy a new World of Warcraft CD-key.

World of Warcraft Strategy Guide at your Fingertips

December 19th, 2008
warcraft
Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

If you’re one of those people who are super organized and who won’t move a pencil out of place on their desks, then there’s a good chance that you would prefer to go through the World of Warcraft game with a good sound World of Warcraft strategy guide at your fingertips.

Unfortunately to actually do this – compile a thorough World of Warcraft strategy guide – you need first to go through the game. Which kind of defeats the purpose, if you go to think about it.

However, help is at hand in the form of guides and walk throughs which have been compiled by other people who have already gone through World of Warcraft themselves.

You will normally be able to find one or two guides which can help you to build up your very own World of Warcraft strategy guide to help you through the game. You will want to think first about where you want to go and how you want to go about it.

For instance, many of the existing World of Warcraft strategy guides involves the strategy of getting as much gold as you can, because you guessed it, gold pieces make the World of Warcraft of go around at a much smoother pace than if you didn’t have as much gold to your name.

You will also be able to find out which are the best quests to take, and which ones will give you the most trouble. With a World of Warcraft strategy guide with you as you go through the lands of Warcraft you will also be able to find the best spots for fishing (yes, you read that correctly!), and the best spots for mining.

You will also find at hand, little details like the fact that some objects in bodies of water don’t actually turn up on your personal map, until you’re actually in these bodies of water!

You can also use the expertise of these other people with their own World of Warcraft strategy guide, to help you build up your own one where you can also add more information which these guides might not have contained.

The proper use of World of Warcraft strategy guides will also help you to pass through the levels faster, meaning that you level up at a faster. This means that you won’t be stuck endlessly at level 10 or 15 grinding away.

And the best part of these World of Warcraft strategy guides is that they are not cheating nor do they use hacks. Instead they rely on the experience of the user writing them to help you through the various levels.
