How to get your friends to play World of Warcraft with you?

Bunco asked:

I really want to play a good mmorpg at the moment. Sadly, I have discovered that World of Warcraft is not nearly as much fun to play without your friends. This is made difficult by the fact that my friends are cheap and will not pay the monthly fee easily. Does anyone have any advice on how to get my friends to willingly pay for a monthly fee?

Just Download the Warcraft III Demo Right Now (since You’re Reading This)

Muna wa Wanjiru asked:

If you truly want to join the World of Warcraft revolution but find that you don’t have the time or the inclination to play the online role playing game, you always have the option of trying out some of the other Warcraft games. And if you wanted to first get a taste for the game before you buy it, you can always try out the Warcraft III demo.

This small piece of Warcraft saga will be sure to whet your appetite for Warcraft and keep you coming back for more. You could start at the very beginning, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and go on from there.

Or you could even go to the second part in the Warcraft legacy and start off with Warcraft II: the Frozen Throne. Or you could just download the Warcraft III demo right now (since you’re reading this) and start playing right away.

You will find immediately you start playing that you are catapulted into the Warcraft saga, with all of its epic battles and quests. With the Warcraft III demo you will still have all of the functionality of the normal game, with the exception that you will only have a few missions to carry out.

The first two of these missions on the downloaded Warcraft III demo version will introduce you to the basics of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. The remaining three missions that you will have in the Warcraft III demo will all be geared towards normal play.

As an added incentive you also have the option to use Battle.net to play your Warcraft III demo online with your friends, just like in World if Warcraft.

It’s also relatively easy to find and download so even that aspect will pose no problem if you want to try out the Warcraft III demo.

The download for the Warcraft III demo is about 100MB in size so you really need to have a broadband connection to get things going. If you’re still unfortunately stuck in the land that time (and broadband) forgot and you still have a dial up connection, it’s just not going to happen, at least not in this century.

There’s no way that you can download the 100MB Warcraft III demo without wanting to bash your head in for even attempting it. That said, if you’re lucky enough to have a broadband connection the just go for it. The reviews that the Warcraft III demo received when it finally went live shows just how well Blizzard scored this time round as well.

Fight Strategy for Rokmar the Crackler and Quagmirran in the Slave Pens in World of Warcraft

Aaron Patterson asked:

The first instance in the Coilfang Reservoir is The Slave Pens. The Slave Pens has three bosses in all. Here is the fight strategy for the second and third boss.

Rokmar the Crackler

The second boss in The Slave Pens is Rokmar the Crackler.

This fight is simple. Have the tank grab Rokmar the Crackler and tank him at least 35 yards from the healer. Have the DPS kill him while the group watches out for his three abilities.

The first is Grievous Wounds. This is a bleed ability that does 900 damage per tick and will continue until the target is either healed up to full health or dead. This can only be removed with Stoneform and Divine Shield.

The next is ability is Water Spit. This is an Area of Effect, or AoE, spell that does 1600-1800 Frost Damage to all party members within 40 yards of the him.

Last is Ensnaring Moss. This is a debuff that slows your casting and attacks by 50%. Be sure to get out of the 30 yard range. If the healer gets hit with Ensnaring Moss then the raid will wipe.

Quagmirran

The last boss in The Slave Pens is Quagmirran. He is a basic tank and DPS fight.

This boss only has two abilities. The first is Acid Geyser, which targets a random player in the raid and spews an acid cone at them, doing nature damage. This can be taken off of a player by the tank taunting  Quagmirran. He will turn back to the tank for the duration of the taunt. The second ability is Poison Volley, an AoE or Area of Effect spell. It shoots poison bolts at everyone in the raid and adds a poison damage over time, or a DOT, that can be removed.

Have the tank face him away from the raid so that only he gets hit with the Acid Geyser. The healers need to dispel the poison DOTs while healing. Meanwhile, simply have the DPS kill him.
