How to Beat the Ramparts Instance in World of Warcraft
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008Aaron Patterson asked:
Hellfire Citadel has several different dungeons. The first you will encounter in the Outlands is Ramparts. This is a 60+ dungeon. Here is how to beat it with your party.
Watchkeeper Gargolmar
The first boss in Ramparts is Watchkeeper Gargolmar. This is a simple fight.
Watchkeeper Gargolmar is with two healers on either side of him. They must be killed first since they will heal him. So, have your tank aggro him away from the group while your DPS focuses on the first healer and the second healer is trapped or Sheeped. He does a charge that hits the farthest person in the group and then he returns to the tank. Make sure your healer is closer than some of your ranged DPS.
After the healers are dead, kill Watchkeeper Gargolmar.
Omor the Unscarred
The next boss is Omor the Unscarred. He is a demon that can be killed with regular tanking and DPS.
Omor has several spells that you should be aware of, though. He will summon two felhounds that will drain the life of party members and do 1300 dmg a hit. They can be banished or tanked easily.
He will also us Shadow Whip, which sends a lower aggro person in the group into the air and then drops them doing fall damage. Players can be thrown out of the instance with this.
The third ability Omor the Unscarred uses is Treacherous Aura and/or Bane of Treachery. These are periodic effects that last for 12 seconds and target random players in the raid.
His last spell is a shadow bolt that is cast on who ever has aggro.
Nazan and Vazruden
The last boss is actually a dragon and his rider. They are Nazan, who is the dragon, and Vazruden, his rider.
The fight starts off with Vazruden alone. He will need to be tanked while the DPS players go to work on him. During this time, though, his dragon will drop fireballs from the air, which will do Area of Effect damage. Players will have to run away from these fireballs.
Once his rider reaches 20% health, Nazan will land. The tank will need to aggro him and turn him away from the party so that the dragon does n’t barbeque them. The party should still be focusing their DPS on the rider. When the rider is dead then the dragon should be killed.
